The Drowned Mill

A stilt-house on an old mill in the fen, the wheel standing in dry sedge.

A closer look

At the threshold

The old wheel stands useless in sedge, but the house above it is still inhabited. The mill has traded one kind of livelihood for another. From its stilts, the fen’s safe routes are easier to imagine than to recognise on foot.
